EVENTS OVERVIEW

8th Annual Red Nation Film Festival – The Authentic Voice of American Indian & Indigenous Cinema kicks off American Indian Heritage Month with anticipated exclusive features, world premieres, documentaries, star-studded Red is Green carpet events, Awards Gala, Tribute Ceremony, Red Nation FilmLab, experiencing the best of American Indian cinema in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world.

This year’s selection continues to establish new talent and celebrate the diverse cultural expression of USA American Indian, Indigenous Peoples, and Canadian First Nation communities in cinematic new media.

Red Nation Awards Gala is to be broadcast on Red Nation Television Channel (RNTC) on Thanksgiving Day/Week-end. RNTC is the first all native internet television channel EST. 2006.

Honoring Russell Means, to receive the “Oyate Wayanka Po Win Lifetime Achievement Award”. Russell Means and his wife Pearl will be in attendance.

Russell Means an Oglala/Lakota and long time AIM and civil right activist, and Actor. The Washington Post called Means “one of the biggest, baddest, meanest, angriest, most famous American Indian activists of the late twentieth century.” Star of Pocahontas, Last of the Mohicans, Black Cloud, and so many notable films and television appearances.

Michael Jackson to receive Red Nation Humanitarian Award.

Governor Jerry Brown to receive the American Indian Heritage Month Award.

Festival proceeds go toward: Native Youth Matter Ending Youth Suicide on Reservations Red Nation Call to Action: National Awareness Campaign.
